social porno since 2008 · now we measure

Our story

pornodigo.com went online in June 2008 as "il social porno italiano": a pink page with a list of empty categories, from Amatoriale to Webcam, where anyone could post a link and everyone could vote it up or bury it. A porn Digg, before Facebook was Facebook in Italy.

It filled up fast. By early 2010 it was the third result on Google Italy for the word "porno". In December 2009 we printed every search that had brought people to the site, 169,795 of them, as a 720-page book called Chiavi ("Keys"). We still think it is the most honest book ever written about porn.

Then the software that ran it turned out to be a sieve, spammers moved in, and the site went quiet for a long time.

Now it is back with a different job: measuring the sites you pay for. Same pink, same bad jokes, more numbers.
